ABOUT MULTICAF

MultiCaf is a recognized non-profit organization with the mission to fight food insecurity and social exclusion in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood. Since 1989 , we have supported thousands annually through diverse programs including a food bank, community cafeteria, social support services, and urban agriculture projects. Named Quebec’s most recognized food security organization in 2023 by the National Assembly, MultiCaf is supported by a committed team, institutional partners, foundations, and over 200 volunteers.

POSITION SUMMARY

MultiCaf is seeking an a Director of Philanthropic Development to lead and grow all private fundraising efforts.Reporting to the Executive Director, you will lead MultiCaf’s philanthropic strategy across major gifts, foundation and corporate partnerships, including a landmark capital campaign to secure the future of our services.This high-impact leadership role offers autonomy to shape the future of philanthropy at MultiCaf. You will provide both strategic and operational leadership of the philanthropic department and play a key role in planning MultiCaf’s first major capital campaign.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·Leadthe strategy, development, and execution of all major giving initiatives

·Leadthe planning and execution of MultiCaf’s first major capital campaign

·Manageand grow a portfolio of 100+ high-potential individual, foundation, and corporate donors

·Developand implement tailored solicitation strategies for gifts of $25,000 and up

·Developcompelling philanthropic content including case statements, proposals, and impact reports

·Createannual plans, performance reports, and strategic follow-ups

·Collaborateclosely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and key partners

·Supportthe planning of major fundraising events and recognition initiatives

·Help build and fosteran internal culture of philanthropy within the organization

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A people person – You excel at building and nurturing relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, and community partners. You’re a natural storyteller who translates impact into inspiration.
  • A proven fundraiser – You have a strong track record of soliciting and securing major gifts (5–6 figures), and experience with capital campaigns or 7-figure gifts is a major asset.
  • Bilingual – You communicate fluently in both French and English, spoken and written.
  • Highly organized – You’re comfortable juggling multiple priorities and managing complex projects with precision.
  • Engaged and persuasive – You know how to mobilize volunteers, engage donors, and maintain momentum across multiple files and timelines.
  • Collaborative – You thrive in a community-focused, cross-functional environment
  • A strong leader – You’re a confident self-starter with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Community-aware – Knowledge of the nonprofit sector or the Côte-des-Neiges community is an asset.
  • Mission-aligned – You bring a deep commitment to social impact, food justice, and reducing poverty, whether through personal experience or professional passion.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, business, philanthropy, nonprofit management)
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in fundraising, major gifts, strategic donor development or a related field
