Job description

The Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa (CASO) is committed to building a skilled workforce that reflects the population of Ottawa as well as the diverse communities we serve. We prioritize removing systemic barriers to support equitable hiring practices, as outlined in the Ontario Human Rights Code. Increasing representation is vital to providing the best possible service to children, youth, and families in our community.

At CASO, we believe in leadership rooted in compassion, collaboration, and community. We are seeking a Bilingual Director of Service to join our dedicated team of change-makers supporting children, youth, and families through innovative, culturally responsive, and equity-focused practices. You will help shape critical services while working in a forward-thinking, mission-driven organization that values your voice and empowers your leadership.

We offer a competitive annual salary of $121,864 to $158,267, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package, generous leave provisions (including four weeks of vacation after six months), a pension plan, health, dental, life, and disability insurance, and flexible work arrangements.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Service is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, implementation, and evaluation of service delivery programs within the Society. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director contributes to the development and execution of the organization's strategic goals, ensuring effective service delivery in compliance with the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA), Ministry standards, and the Society's policies and procedures.

  1. Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Represent the Society on local and provincial committees to advance service objectives.
  • Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of service programs, ensuring legislative compliance and best practices.
  • Monitor service levels and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Manage budgets and ensure financial accountability within the Services Department.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to Service Managers and their teams.
  • Implement quality assurance strategies and utilize data for continuous improvement.
  • Champion and foster Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives, ensuring culturally responsive and inclusive services.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years of senior managerial experience in a child welfare organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of CYFSA, Ministry regulations, and child welfare best practices.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with understanding of systemic oppressions faced by Indigenous, racialized, and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
  • Proven ability to manage complex service delivery systems and lead organizational change.

We thank all applicants for their interest. Accommodations will be provided in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code to ensure a fair and equitable assessment process.
