Job Summary

Reporting to the President and working within the executive committee, the Director of Finance and Administration is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling accounting, financial, and administrative operations, including procurement. The Director manages a team of four (4) people located in Gatineau, Laval, and elsewhere virtually. They also proactively support all business units to ensure efficiency and performance, achieve financial objectives, and ensure organized growth of the company. Consequently, they must exercise sound asset management and demonstrate ethics, integrity, transparency, and respect. This Director will act as the President’s right-hand person and will be called upon to directly support the company’s strategy and regularly act as an ambassador to various stakeholders such as clients and business partners.

Main Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial performance, establish forecasts, objectives, and manage budgets and fund allocations.
  • Establish and implement the financial plan.
  • Provide strong leadership in developing the company’s overall strategies and ensure alignment with financial concepts.
  • Oversee controls and risk management in accordance with internal policies, contractual agreements, and current regulations.
  • Prepare and present periodic financial statements, as well as all other financial communications in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and accounting regulations.
  • Advise management on financial improvements and performance enhancement opportunities.
  • Manage cash flow and tax strategies.
  • Manage payroll, company assets, and suppliers.
  • Optimize asset and technology management.
  • Prepare tenders and business plans according to projects.
  • Manage financing and investment files.
  • Develop and maintain excellent business relationships with investors, financial institutions, and other partners.
  • In collaboration with other departments, manage unit and team transformation projects.
  • Guide and develop staff to achieve excellence.
  • Supervise internal and external audits and maintain compliance across all financial operations.
  • Upgrade financial information and associated management processes.
  • Conduct an organizational diagnosis by evaluating talents, processes, and systems, and develop an improvement plan, operational and financial initiatives necessary to optimize the company’s functioning and performance.
  • Support the growth plan.

Skills and Competencies to Excel in the Role / Desired Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in management or finance, a master’s degree in one of these disciplines is an asset.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior financial and administrative management position, including 5 years in a role with similar scope and accountability.
  • Knowledge of the logistics sector is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of financial management and the accounting cycle.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as SAGE 50.
  • Knowledge of administrative functions, procurement, and information technology.
  • Strong communication and team management skills.
  • Proven track record in optimizing administrative operations to support the company’s strategy.
  • Experience in a multi-site environment.
  • Knowledge of corporate financing.
  • Ability to represent the company and develop sustainable business partnerships.
  • Excellent strategic skills combined with practical sense.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Skilled in playing a strategic advisory role.
  • Mobilizing leadership : ability to recognize talent and foster the professional development of teams and colleagues.
  • Change agent capable of monitoring, challenging the status quo, taking calculated risks, demonstrating creativity, and managing change.
  • Autonomous.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Communication and presentation skills in both French and English.
