We are looking for a Manager Aircraft Maintenance and Modification for Pratt & Whitney Canada's unique flight testing and corporate flight service.

This role, based in Mirabel, involves leading a dynamic team across two sites (Mirabel and Saint-Hubert), overseeing the maintenance of experimental (Boeing 747SP) and corporate (Dornier 328, Citation XLS) aircraft, managing material purchases, and modifying experimental aircraft. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours in Mirabel, and is exclusively on-site.

What will your day-to-day look like?

  • Manage the Maintenance Department: Oversee the Aircraft Maintenance department and all related activities. Lead the procurement and aircraft modification functions. Serve as the primary point of contact with union representatives.
  • Develop the Team: Provide coaching, feedback, and direction to help employees grow and excel in their roles.
  • Anticipate: Forecast the workload, labor requirements, capital investments, and budgets.
  • Plan: Manage aircraft spare parts to support flight test and corporate flight activities. Oversee experimental purchases and modifications.
  • Address Root Causes: Conduct thorough root cause analysis for major aircraft issues, operational challenges, and facility-related problems.
  • Improve Processes: Develop and adapt standard work processes for all aspects of aircraft maintenance.
  • Manage Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S): Oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) related activities for the aircraft hangar and flight operations facility.
  • Quality and Safety: Ensure that all maintenance work meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and ethics.

What do you need to be successful?

  • Field of education: Aircraft maintenance, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, System Engineering or other applicable scientific discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in aircraft maintenance management.
  • Multitasking: Manage multiple projects while adhering to plans and objectives.
  • Communication: Interpersonal skills in both English and French at all levels.
  • Management Style: Leadership, collaboration, project, and people management.
  • Culture: Promotes responsibility, organization, and planning for optimal results.
  • Aircraft Maintenance: Knowledge and understanding of aircraft systems, P&WC engines, and Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs).
  • Engineering: Skills to support technical decision-making.
  • Licenses: Holding an M1 or M2 license (a plus).
  • Personal Qualities: Leadership, autonomy, passion, sense of responsibility.
  • Innovation: Ability to innovate, improve the organization, and challenge the status quo.
  • Talents: Experience in selecting and developing talents for a high-performing team.
  • Travel: May travel occasionally for business in other P&WC plants and in other countries such as the USA.

This position is part of a French-speaking work environment; it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand, on a daily basis, documentation and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.
