Job summary

Aldaview Services, part of Tri-County Mennonite Homes in New Hamburg, ON, is seeking a Direct Support Worker. You will work on shift to guide and support adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, promoting independence and person-centered care.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree/diploma in the social services field preferred (DSW/PSW or related program).

• CPR, Emergency First Aid, NVCI required.
• G license is required.

About the role:

The Direct Support Worker is responsible to the Primary Direct Support on shift for guidance and direction, and reports to the Program Manager. The Direct Support Worker provides support and assistance to individuals that promotes their independence and is person centered.

Wage:

• $23.24 to 26.95 hourly

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary degree/diploma in the social services field, such as a DSW/PSW or enrolled in a related college or university program is preferred.
  OR
  Related experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
• CPR, Emergency First Aid, NVCI
• G license required
• Experience supporting individuals with Dual Diagnosis, Mental Health & Addictions would be an asset

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to advocate for others
• Strong problem-solving skills and takes initiative in making improvements
• Ability to contribute to a safe environment for co-workers and clients.
• Can communicates respectfully, openly and honestly.
• Demonstrated experience working with adults with an intellectual/developmental disability is preferable.
