DUTIES
Reporting to the Dean of Health, UCN is seeking qualified Instructor for the Diploma in Practical Nursing programs in Thompson, Manitoba. The instructor will be committed to excellence in teaching and promoting an interdisciplinary approach to care. In addition to teaching duties, the instructor will be responsible for classroom management, student supervision and advising, maintenance of student records and grades, curriculum review/development, and other administrative tasks. The successful incumbent will also assist with assigned activities including University College promotion, student recruitment, and various program administrative functions. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Registered Nurse with an undergraduate degree in nursing; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
· Active CRNM membership with no restrictions
· Minimum 5 years of experience in nursing
· Diverse nursing experience, including medical-surgical, gerontology, OBS, mental health, and northern nursing
· Effective time management skills
· Effective communication skills
· Strong interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
· Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office 365
· Familiarity with issues specific to Indigenous learners and mature students in northern communities
· Commitment to life-long learning
ASSETS
· Graduate Nursing Degree or graduate degree in related area
· Previous instructional experience
· Familiarity with curriculum development and delivery
· Ability to speak an Indigenous language
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
· Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry
· College Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
