Position Description

Position Summary

This role reports to Manager of Digital Solutions- Learning & Instructional design and works closely with Clinical Applications and Project Management Office, as well as clinical and non-clinical staff to gain a thorough understanding of the health information system, clinical systems and the associated workflows to ensure a comprehensive training approach.

Project Description

St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) and Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) are embarking on an exciting digital transformation project to implement Epic’s health information system (HIS) at JBH.

In this partnership, JBH will adopt SJHH’s version of Epic’s health information system (HIS), which is branded Dovetale. Both organizations will support the shared instance of Dovetale following the project’s implementation. The project goals are to enable safer patient care, empower healthcare providers and staff, make care more efficient, and improve the overall patient experience at JBH.

Travel Requirements

The successful candidate will be part of an Integrated Team that will work closely with subject matter experts and leadership at JBH, SJHH, and Epic to carry out the implementation and would be active participants in joint and local committees. While remote work is supported, you will be required to travel to SJHH and JBH locations regularly to complete project activities. For successful candidates hired without Epic certification, you must hold valid travel documentation as you will be expected to travel to the United States to complete your certification requirements in September to October and/or whenever required.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Education, Health Informatics or Health Sciences required
  • A diploma or certification in Informatics or Adult Learning or Regulated Health Professional is considered an asset
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in curriculum development andinstructional design required
  • Previous experience in education delivery utilizing AdultLearning Principles required
  • Previous Epic software experience/certification is an asset
  • Previous project/systems implementation experience required
  • Experience in a health-care environment – basic understanding of clinical workflows and terminology preferred
  • A valid travel document for travelling to the Unites States is required.

  • Strong adult education skills – developing, preparing and delivering education
  • The ability to probe for information about the underlying needs of the organization
  • Communicate effectively with project team members and subject matter experts and follow-up on identified training issues
  • Ability and interest to learn the software and increase knowledge over time and eagerness to promote it within the organization
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.); Visio experience is an asset
  • Strong organization, problem solving and analytical skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to work equally well as a member of a team or alone to carry out project activities, resilience, and creativity are essential
  • Innovative, results and detail oriented
  • Possesses a solid understanding of patient care services, clinical processes and handling of personal health information in order to demonstrate cases
  • Familiar with PHIPA, PIPEDA and AODA legislation
  • Experience with Prezi, Captivate and other media applications
  • Experience building course into a Learning Management System (LMS), deploying content and reporting on results is an asset
  • Highly proficient in creating effective and imaginative training materials and presentations
  • Must be able to work independently, but also collaboratively as a member of a high performing team
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to efficiently handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Epic training certification will be required within 3 months of hiring. All expenses associated with the certification process will be covered by SJHH

HOURS OF WORK

Monday-Friday, days. May include evenings, weekends and on-call as required.

RATE OF PAY

$42.9559 (min) - $49.7975 (max)
