Job summary

The Ian Martin Group is assisting a leading Calgary-based financial institution in recruiting a Senior Digital Technical Delivery Lead for a 5-month engagement. You will guide cross-functional teams, align technology decisions with business goals, and drive modern DevOps practices across internal and external partner teams.

Responsibilities include designing technical specifications, enabling CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring secure, compliant delivery across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in software engineering and technical delivery, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in the financial industry or similarly regulated technology and operations environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in assessing, recommending, and implementing modern DevOps practices and tooling, establishing automated CI/CD pipelines, and integrating built-in security practices across internal and external partner teams.
• Proven ability to translate high-level solution designs into detailed technical specifications for home-grown solutions, platform configurations, and complex API integrations, middleware, and multi-system enterprise landscapes.
• Hands-on experience modernizing quality assurance by implementing shift-left testing principles, automating unit and regression tests early in the SDLC, and enforcing standardized code quality merge gates.
• Experience leading cross-functional delivery squads composed of internal employees and 3rd-party digital vendors, managing vendor delivery standards, code review SLAs, and coordinating dependencies across squads.
• Familiarity with modern cloud platforms (such as Google Cloud Platform / GCP) and a strong "systems thinking" capability to align technical delivery with enterprise vision, cyber security, risk, compliance, and stakeholder needs.
• Education and Certifications: Bachelor's degree; Nice to have certifications in Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, DevOps, PMP.

Digital Technical Delivery Lead on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client isa market leading financial institution

• Contract Length: 5 months and 12 days
• Location: Calgary, Alberta

Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

The Senior Digital Technical Delivery Lead will report into an enterprise Digital Program and focuses on leading delivery teams in the planning, design, development in support of the project. This is a technical leadership role responsible for guiding key technology decisions and developing technical specifications that can be utilized by development teams. A key accountability will be leading a cross-functional team of internal employees and a 3rd party Digital partner with our client in assessing and building out new DevOps practices and tooling. Additionally, the role is responsible for coordinating delivery of work across vendor and internal delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Technical Design Specifications: Provide technical designs in alignment with supplied solution designs. This includes home-grown solutions, configuration and customization in vendor/partner platforms, and integration to various systems in and out of the ATB landscape.
• DevOps Modernization: Work with a team spanning both internal resources and an external partner to assess current DevOps practices and tooling, form recommendations and implement new, modern tooling with built-in automation and security to enable digital development at pace.
• QA & Shift-Left Governance: Lead QA modernization by implementing shift-left testing principles, automating unit and regression testing early in the SDLC, and setting standardized quality merge gates to minimize late-stage defects.
• Dependency Mapping & Alignment: Establish proactive dependency mapping across delivery squads and integrate review gates during planning to reduce late dependency discovery and ensure smooth cross-squad coordination.
• Technical Leadership: Act as the bridge between project managers, architects, vendor delivery teams, software engineers, and product stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with business goals.
• Vendor & Tool Selection: Assist the solution architect and other team members in the evaluation and recommend tools and platforms that may best serve the initiative.
• Vendor Performance Management: Manage vendor partner delivery standards, ensuring compliance with established code review SLAs, established DevOps practices, and standardized CI/CD pipelines.
• Prototyping: Build Proof of Concepts PoCs to demonstrate the viability of new tools and practices in the technical landscape.
