Job summary

Scarborough Health Network is seeking a Digital Enterprise Architect to lead strategic design, governance, and evolution of enterprise technology across SHN sites. You will ensure digital solutions are secure, scalable, interoperable, and aligned with clinical, operational, and organizational priorities.

You will design architecture frameworks, guide cloud and on‑premises infrastructure, and collaborate with executives, clinicians, and Ontario Health to advance AI-enabled health initiatives

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of progressive IT, digital solutions, or enterprise architecture experience.
  • Experience in healthcare or complex multi-stakeholder environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing, infrastructure, integration, and lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (PHIPA, PIPEDA).

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for enterprise architecture across applications, infrastructure, data, and integration domains.
  • Design and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, and solution blueprints aligned with SHN priorities.
  • Lead the development of solution architectures for clinical and corporate systems (EHR/EMR, ERP, cloud and digital platforms).
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Design and oversee integration architecture and data flows to enable interoperability across systems and provincial partners.
  • Guide infrastructure design including Azure, on‑premise, and hybrid environments for performance, scalability, and security.
  • Support digital health initiatives including AI-enabled tools and patient engagement platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements through architecture design and governance.
  • Participate in governance structures (ARB, CAB, etc.) and project intake processes.
  • Develop and maintain architecture standards, policies, and documentation for consistent delivery.
  • Lead or support vendor evaluations, RFP processes, and technical assessments.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks (cybersecurity, privacy, performance, integration).
  • Collaborate with external partners to support interoperability with provincial initiatives.
  • Develop architecture-related metrics and monitor solution performance outcomes.
  • Provide expert guidance to leadership and project teams on architecture and digital solutions.
  • Support continuous improvement, innovation, and reduction of technical debt.
  • Foster collaboration and SHN values within the team.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director, Digital Health, Artificial Intelligence & Information Security, the Digital Enterprise Architect is responsible for the strategic design, governance, and evolution of enterprise technology architecture across all Scarborough Health Network (SHN) sites. This role ensures that digital solutions are secure, scalable, interoperable, and aligned with clinical, operational, and organizational priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for enterprise architecture across applications, infrastructure, data, and integration domains.
  • Design and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, and solution blueprints aligned with SHN strategic priorities.
  • Lead the development of solution architectures for clinical and corporate systems (e.g., EHR/EMR, ERP, cloud and digital platforms).
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and corporate stakeholders to assess needs and translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Design and oversee integration architecture and data flows to enable interoperability across internal systems and external provincial partners.
  • Guide infrastructure design including cloud (e.g., Azure), on‑premise, and hybrid environments to ensure performance, scalability, and security.
  • Support digital health and innovation initiatives including AI‑enabled tools, patient engagement platforms, and remote monitoring solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (e.g., PHIPA, PIPEDA) through architecture design and governance processes.
  • Participate in and support governance structures including Architecture Review Board (ARB), Change Advisory Board (CAB), and project intake processes.
  • Develop and maintain architecture standards, policies, and documentation to support consistent and sustainable solution delivery.
  • Lead or support vendor evaluations, RFP processes, and technical assessments.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, including cybersecurity, privacy, system performance, and integration challenges.
  • Collaborate with external partners including vendors, consultants, Ontario Health, and other healthcare organizations to support interoperability and alignment with provincial initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor architecture‑related metrics, standards compliance, and solution performance outcomes.
  • Provide expert advice and technical guidance to leadership, project teams, and stakeholders on architecture and digital solutions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, and reduction of technical debt across the organization.
  • Foster strong working relationships and contribute to a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive team environment aligned with SHN values.
  • Participate in organizational projects, committees, and strategic initiatives.
Requirements
  • University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics, or related field; Master’s degree considered an asset.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in IT, digital solutions architecture, or enterprise architecture roles.
  • Experience working within a complex, multi‑stakeholder, or healthcare environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience designing enterprise‑scale architecture and integrating complex systems across multiple platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing (e.g., Azure), infrastructure architecture, system integration, and application lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, privacy legislation, and interoperability standards (e.g., PHIPA, PIPEDA, Ontario Health frameworks).
  • Experience with IT governance frameworks, architecture review processes, and service management practices (e.g., ITIL).
  • Proven ability to lead technical design, influence decision‑making, and collaborate with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and risk assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and support large‑scale transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with digital health technologies, AI‑enabled solutions, or emerging technologies considered an asset.
