Job Details:
Job Title: Digital Product Designer (Interaction Designer)
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Duration: 12 Months (With possible extension)
Position Type: Full-Time, Contract

Position Overview:
This designer will be working with a team to design, build, and launch a new industry-leading business-banking portal for commercial banking clients. The team’s focus is specifically on payment modernization.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a strategic partner to product owners, business analysts, and other stakeholders to identify requirements and frame them from a user experience perspective.
  • Facilitate collaboration sessions with stakeholders and peers.
  • Work with design researchers, visual designers, and content designers to develop well-rounded design decisions that meet user and business goals.
  • Collaborate with the development team to deliver great experiences at the code level.
  • Use data and research to guide the design process.
  • Identify common design patterns and opportunities to enable design at scale.
  • Utilize lateral thinking and design thinking to re-frame and solve the root client need.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Adapt to shifting priorities based on client feedback and technical constraints in an agile environment.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, effectively prioritize work, and balance workload independently.
  • Seek inspiration and examples outside of the banking domain to drive innovation.

Requirements:

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in interaction design.
  • Deep expertise in user flows, wireframing, and prototyping of complex digital products.
  • A systems-thinking mindset, with the ability to design holistically across interconnected experiences while considering business and technical constraints.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and stakeholder management.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in accessibility (e.g., WCAG guidelines) and how to design inclusive experiences.

Program/technology/software knowledge:

  • Proficient in Figma as the primary design tool; experience with Mural for wireframes and concepting; familiarity with Confluence for documentation and Jira for tracking stories.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with and contributing to design systems and standardized libraries of assets ensuring consistency and scalability across digital products.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies and how design translates to development.
  • Understanding of financial services.
