Description:
The Design Researcher will be part of a team working on advisor-facing digital tools. More specifically, the Design Researcher will plan and conduct both generative and usability research to support:
- the launch and ongoing enhancement of a Gen AI desktop tool for advisors;
- an ongoing initiative to optimize the workflow of the advisor desktop, focusing workflow and process optimization.
Duties/Responsibilities:The Interaction Designer will be part of a team working on advisor-facing digital tools.
More specifically, the Interaction Designer will:
- Provide product design expertise to inform the launch and ongoing enhancement of a Gen AI desktop tool for advisors;
- Contribute to an ongoing initiative to optimize the workflow of the advisor desktop – this work will be focused primarily on process optimization, and not on the redesign or refinement of any specific digital application.
The Interaction Designer will be responsible for:- Consulting product owners and other relevant partners on an ongoing basis to discuss new and upcoming features on the Gen AI advisor tool roadmap, and brainstorm and sketch potential design solutions;
- Work with product owners, tech leads, business analysts and other relevant stakeholders to scope design activities, collect business and functional requirements, establish timelines for delivery of prototypes and ready for dev files;
- Create design concepts for the Gen AI advisor tool in Figma, review concepts with product owners and other relevant stakeholders, and collect feedback to iterate;
- Creating Figma prototypes to support both moderated and unmoderated usability testing of Gen AI tool design concepts with advisors
- Supporting the team Design Researcher in planning and conducting usability testing, and in analyzing and synthesizing test results
- Supporting optimization of the advisor desktop workflow through (but not limited to) workflow and business process analysis, process mapping, workflow optimization, as well as research activities such as persona creation, advisor interviews, etc
To succeed in this role, the Interaction Designer should have professional experience:- designing employee- or advisor-facing digital product or digital tools
- planning and delivering Figma prototypes of medium-high complexity, within constrained timeframes
- working with design researchers in planning and conducting moderated and unmoderated usability testing
- understanding and appropriately managing stakeholder expectations within an organizationally complex environment
- planning and delivering presentations, workshops, reviews and other such large-tent meetings
The successful designer will:- have established themselves as a key partner to program leads, product owners and other stakeholders responsible for planning and deploying advisor tools
- be trusted to deliver exceptional work to deadline, understand and respond to stakeholder needs, and support the advisor tools initiative in meeting its key objectives
- have developed a deep working knowledge of advisor workflow, business processes, pain points
- have become a subject matter expert in designing user interfaces for Gen AI-driven applications
The key skills for the designer include:- Substantial experience designing for complex organizational workflows (e.g., employee or advisor workflow support)
- Substantial experience in conversational design
- Expertise in use of Figma to build design concepts, create complex prototypes, and deliver high-quality ready-for-dev files
- Planning and conducting usability testing
- Independently scoping and estimating design and usability testing activities to meet competing priorities and deadlines set by squad product owners
Nice to Haves:
Knowledge and / or working experience in designing interfaces and conversational experiences for Gen AI-driven applications
