Job Information And Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, Studio for Teaching and Learning, the Digital Learning Specialist, Training:

  • Coordinates with faculty and Department Chairs when in need of new or refreshed training on University supported software.
  • Coordinates with Studio team leads and vendors on training materials for software integrated within the LMS.
  • Leads planning, designing, and developing of training assets.
  • Designs and develops training for university supported software, with an institutional license, including Adobe, Teams and Zoom.
  • Designs and develops customized Microsoft Office software training including in part, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Outlook, and the majority of Microsoft 365 tools offered in the suite of add-on apps.
  • Delegates to SAS team areas of focus for the development, preparation, or delivery of training; including training approaches and best practices for continuous improvement to training delivery.
  • Plans one-on-one, in person and virtual training to all University community members, students, faculty and staff.
  • Collects details about and maintains awareness of new University supported software tools, software tool expiries, and technology updates to SAS team as needed.
  • Coordinates with SAS Manager on the development and maintenance of standard SAS team operating procedures, customer service policy, and guiding principles for handling recurring technology issues, addressing unique issues, establishing team processes and conduct; and ensures such documents remain up to date.
  • Serves as SAS team point person to deliver training.
  • Serves as Trainer/Facilitator to support Studio services and supports.
  • Collaborates with SAS Manager to identify and evaluate educational technology service and/or support gaps and develops pathways to overcome any perceived gaps in service or support.
  • Schedules and coordinates software training and workshops with Studio staff and stakeholder groups in consultation with Studio managers.
  • Ensures knowledge of University supported software updates, upgrades, initiatives, projects are shared regularly with Studio team and various University stakeholders.
Experience And Education Requirements

To be the successful Digital Learning Specialist, Training you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree in a discipline related to Computer Science, Educational Technology, Teacher Training, or a relevant field such as Science with demonstrable experience or interest in technology-enhanced learning.
  • Minimum two (2) to three (3) years of directly related experience.
  • Direct experience using LMS configuration tools are considered an asset.
  • Collaborative, positive, and professional approach to working in teams and with colleagues in a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Demonstrated intercultural awareness and a commitment to principles of equity and inclusion.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills: able to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and negotiate changes in priorities, as required. Professional judgment and discretion.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to be persuasive and to effect positive change while building strong relationships.
  • Supervisory experience an asset.
