Associate, Digital Health
Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national, not-for-profit, shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada, as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides value-driven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies, pharmaceutical products, local sourcing, capital (equipment, FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics, in-hospital support, warehousing/logistics, technology, procure-to-pay, and accounts payable.
With an emerging focus on sustainability and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental, social and governance best practices. Based in Burlington, ON, the organization also has offices in Toronto, Thunder Bay, Kingston, Brantford, London and Chatham, and a distribution centre in Oakville.
We are currently recruiting for a full-time Associate to support our Digital Health team.
Position Overview
The Associate on the Digital Health Projects team plays a lead role in providing advisory services to healthcare organizations on the use and adoption of digital health solutions. In collaboration with senior team members and senior hospital stakeholders, you will assist with consulting support, project execution, and stakeholder engagement. This role offers an opportunity to expand your experience in digital health, project management, and healthcare technology, while contributing to impactful initiatives that improve healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Advisory & Consulting:
- As part of the Digital Health Projects team, partner with healthcare organizations to assess their current digital capabilities and recommend tailored strategies that align with their clinical, operational, and financial objectives
- Research and evaluate various digital health solutions, including software platforms and vendors, to provide clients with informed, unbiased recommendations
- Develop detailed roadmaps for the implementation of digital health solutions, outlining key milestones, deliverables, and timelines
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare clients, serving as a trusted advisor for ongoing digital health needs and initiatives
- Continuously work with clients to ensure satisfaction though feedback sessions, surveys, and regular check-ins, ensuring that advisory services are delivering measurable value
- Offer post-project follow-up to ensure that the recommendations provided are effectively implemented and to identify any further advisory needs
Industry Knowledge & Trends:
- Stay updated on the latest trends in digital health, such as advancements in telemedicine, artificial intelligence, wearable technology, and health information exchanges
- Stay informed on new and emerging technologies, assessing their potential benefits for healthcare providers in terms of operational efficiency, patient care, and cost savings
- Stay informed on industry events, webinars, or articles that highlight emerging trends and best practices in digital health
Project Execution:
- Lead execution of digital health projects, with support from other team members, helping to track project progress, timelines, and deliverables
- Prepare project documentation, including meeting minutes, project plans, and status updates
- Contribute to the development of presentations and other materials or internal and client-facing meetings
- Identify and manage potential risks associated with digital health initiatives, offering mitigation strategies to ensure project success
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work with Digital Health Projects team members to gather requirements and feedback from healthcare providers, relevant stakeholders, and vendors
- Help facilitate communication between stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project goals and timelines
- Act as a liaison between healthcare providers and vendors, facilitating discussions on product functionalities, integration capabilities, and service levels
- Assist in organizing and facilitating workshops, meetings, and focus groups for healthcare providers and relevant stakeholders
Process Improvement
- Assist in analyzing and reviewing current clinical and administrative workflows within healthcare organizations, identifying opportunities for process improvement and recommending digital tools that can enhance productivity and patient care
- In collaboration with team members, provide clients with strategic advice on how digital health technologies can streamline operations, reduce redundancies, and improve resource management across their organizations
- Assist healthcare organizations in managing the cultural and operational changes that come with adopting new digital health solutions, including the development of communication strategies and stakeholder engagement plans
Data Analytics & Reporting:
- Assist in gathering, organizing, and analyzing data to inform recommendations for digital health initiatives
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for clients, summarizing project findings, recommendations, and the projected impact of digital health initiatives
- Utilize industry benchmarks and data sets to compare a client’s performance against peer organizations, offering insights into areas for improvement
Administrative/Other Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Digital Health team, sharing insights, best practices, and lessons learned to enhance the team’s overall advisory capabilities
- At all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with supervisors and coworkers
- Support the team in maintaining project management tools, updating project timelines, and organizing key documentation
- Other duties as assigned, dependent on organizational needs and employee skills.
Qualifications and Skills
Education, Training, and Experience
Mandatory
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field or equivalent,
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in healthcare, health informatics, or IT, preferably in a role related to digital health or IT project coordination
- Strong understanding of healthcare systems and digital health solutions
- Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to compile and present complex information clearly. Includes an ability to think critically, compose, edit, review, and revise a wide range of materials, including research, thought pieces, reports, concept papers, and presentations
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience building lasting relationships with project stakeholders
- Ability to work well independently and as team member
- Ability to take initiative and follow tasks through to completion
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Computer proficiency, including strong word processing experience, and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and various project management software.
- Skill in determining matters of importance and information of use in accomplishing any related tasks
- Ability to give or deny or ask for information in a tactful and friendly manner and to be discreet in giving information to anyone is required
- An intuitive ability to recognize and appropriately convey the sensitive nature of any situation and the ability to keep all matters appropriately confidential
Preferred
- Master’s degree in business, IT, or project management is an asset
- Relevant healthcare system / IT-related certifications are an asset
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and interoperability standards is an asset
- Some experience in strategy work at healthcare organizations is considered an asset
- Willingness to become a super user of key project software (e.g., project management tools)
Travel
- Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.
