About the Role:

Reporting to A ssociate Director, Digital and Marketing , the Digital Experience Specialist is responsible for the continuous enhancement of the University’s online presence and digital platforms, including the primary public-facing website, the campus-wide digital display network, the university’s mass-emailing platform, among others. The incumbent le ads the design, creation and implementation of on-brand, accessible digital content for both external and student-focused platforms. The incumbent provides effective training resources for staff and faculty, regularly reviews and audits platforms to ensure compliance with university standards and stays updated of existing and emerging web technologies and trends. The incumbent serves as a key liaison with vendors and Brock ITS on technical issues . The incumbent leads and supports the Marketing and Communications web team, assigning tasks, projects & setting goals as needed, while also overseeing the production process for digital projects and initiatives within Marketing a nd Communications.

T h e Digital Experience Specialist w ill:

  • Develop and design modern, responsive, accessible websites and webpages using the university CMS to promote Brock University’s brand, programs and research, and support students;

  • Create and update website content, marketing materials and brand assets for use across university digital platforms;

  • Oversee and maintain Marketing & Communications digital platforms , including the main public-facing website, campus-wide digital display network, mass-mailing platform and others;

  • Collaborate with colleagues and campus partners to plan, architect and continue to improve the university’s digital platforms to maintain pace with industry trends and standards;

  • Direct and support members of the Digital and Marketing web team, assigning projects and tasks as needed to ensure the continued operation of the university’s main website;

  • Enforce Brock brand standards in all web and digital marketing materials, products, services, programs, and other offerings, ensuring the quality of the brand is upheld and platforms have a consistent look and feel;

  • Monitor and utilize analytics to measure performance and drive content decision-making and platform effectiveness;

  • Collaborate with colleagues and campus partners to develop and provide effective training materials for the University's digital platforms to current and new staff and faculty ;

  • Lead and support the production process for digital projects, collaborating with the marketing and digital teams to prioritize tasks and make necessary adjustments to meet deadlines; and

  • Coordinate with Marketing and Communications colleagues to align Digital and Marketing projects, assign staff and resources, and support digital projects from inception to completion to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet or exceed goals & expectations.

Key S kills and Experience :

  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in marketing, communications, web development, web design, graphic design, digital media, or a related field ;

  • Experience in web design, content management, and electronic communications technology;

  • Experience providing leadership and guidance with web design, content management, and electronic communications technology , including coordinating digital projects from inception to completion ;

  • Experience in managing and updating content management systems like Drupal, Word Press , and others;

  • An understanding of web architecture, modern web standards, user-centric design, responsive web design and web accessibility standards;

  • Knowledge of CSS, HTML, and the Adobe suite of applications;

  • Knowledge of web analytics platforms such as Google Analytics and Search Console, SiteImprove ;

  • Promotes and embodies inclusivity and respect within the workplace and the broader community;

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;

  • Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate concepts, messages, and strategies; and

  • Self-motivated with excellent time management, organizational , creative problem solving and multi-tasking skills .

Preferred or Asset Skill s:

  • Experience in a post-secondary environment or a similar organizational setting ; and

  • Experience with WordPress, WordPress Multisite and managing WordPress-based websites .

Salary and Total Rewards:

  • Job Grade [ L ] , Sala ry Sca le ( $66,817- $108,353 );

  • Target Hiring Range: $ 66,817- $74,000*

  • T his is a Fixed-term Contract position that includes :

  • Health & Dental Benefits: Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision coverage.

  • Pension Plan: Enrollment eligibility in the Brock University Pension Plan.

  • Vacation: Up to 3 weeks per year, in addition to university holidays.

* The final salary is based on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations within the target hiring range.
