Responsibilities

  • Generate original stories and publish content for our digital platforms.
  • Gather news elements, chase breaking news, and keep published content updated with new developments.
  • Proofread and fact-check copy using Canadian Press Style, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to standards of all online material (headlines, captions, photos, videos, etc.).
  • Edit photos and videos.
  • Curate high-interest digital content from other CTV News stations and pitch local content for cross-publishing consideration.
  • Maximize content discoverability using keywords and SEO practices.
  • Research, book, and conduct interviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a broadcast journalism-specific university or college program.
  • Prior newsroom and journalism experience.
  • Strong writing, communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and multi-tasking abilities to meet tight deadlines.
  • Prior web publishing experience and familiarity with SEO.
  • Team player capable of producing quality work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license.

Desired qualifications

  • Knowledge of the northern Ontario region.

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
