Job Description

What is the Opportunity?

RBC Insurance is seeking a Content Design Lead to join our digital design team within Strategy, Digital, and Data. In this role, you will transform complex, ‘legalese’ content and UX copy into intuitive, inclusive, and meaningful material, collaborating with designers, product teams, communications, and marketing. We seek a strategic thinker and hands-on practitioner who adopts a human-centered approach to enhance the user journey for clients and advisors. You will write both transactional and marketing copy, establishing standards and guidelines for a consistent, customer-centric voice across digital platforms. This hybrid role involves being an individual contributor and managing 1-2 direct reports.

What Will You Do?

  1. Create strategies and artifacts (e.g., Digital style guide) to promote content best practices, ensuring an engaging and consistent user experience across channels.
  2. Craft clear, succinct, and human-centric UX copy that aligns with business goals and user needs, elevating RBC Insurance’s brand.
  3. Develop short and long-form copy for various digital experiences including online applications, website content, advisor portals, and emails.
  4. Collaborate with stakeholders from different lines of business, digital product teams, legal, and compliance to meet diverse objectives and requirements.
  5. Apply principles and technical knowledge of Accessibility and Inclusive Design in content creation for web channels.
  6. Create supporting documents for French translation and assist in optimizing localization.
  7. Work with design researchers using qualitative and quantitative insights, including A/B testing, to inform content decisions.
  8. Partner with product designers to shape non-textual content such as interaction patterns, iconography, information graphics, and imagery.

What Will You Need to Succeed?

Must haves

  • An undergraduate degree in Literature/English, Psychology, Design, Linguistics, Journalism, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in UX writing, content design, or similar roles.
  • A portfolio showcasing your work, especially digital experiences.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Strong understanding of applying copy and content design throughout the client and/or advisor lifecycle.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries with legal teams or complex terms.

Nice to haves

  • Experience contributing to digital launches within an agile environment.
  • Fluency in French.

What’s in it for you?

  • A Total Rewards program including flexible benefits, work/life balance, career development, and savings plans.
  • Competitive pay with high earning potential.
  • Tools, training, and team support for growth.
  • Flexible work/life balance options.
  • Advanced RBCI software tools to enhance productivity.
