Position Summary
BCIT’s IT Services Department is currently seeking a temporary full-time (1.0 FTE ) Digital Content Coordinator to join the Solution Delivery team. This role plays a key part in how we deliver high-quality digital experiences to our students, staff, and faculty.
As a Digital Content Coordinator, you will partner with institutional clients to strategically develop and maintain content across multiple digital platforms including our public website and employee Intranet. You will ensure that content is accurate, accessible, aligned with institutional goals, and optimized for web performance. Using Google Analytics, you will analyze web traffic and conversion trends to measure engagement and propose data-driven improvements. As part of the Solution Delivery team, you will maintain content governance standards and ensure consistent tone, branding, and voice across platforms, and participate in ongoing improvements to content management workflows and digital property enhancements.
Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Coordinate whole or parts of client website development including sequencing go-live activities
- Help clients define their web presence goals
- Develop information architecture for client sites
- Optimize client sites through writing and editing support and content design
- Work with clients to ensure web content and design adhere to the Institute’s brand and content standards
- Contribute to the development and documentation of content standards and the ongoing maintenance of user support materials
- Triage and provide client support for content management system ( CMS ) issues
- Communicate best practices in content standards to wider BCIT community
- Use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to monitor user engagement, traffic patterns, referral sources, and content performance across digital platforms
- Collaborate with stakeholders across ITS and the Institute
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Institute of Technology Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or business; and
- A minimum of four (4) years current relevant experience in an IT environment similar to BCIT , including two (2) of the past four (4) years in a similar position; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Must have demonstrated current IT knowledge.
- Proven commitment to providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task while meeting strict deadlines.
- Must be a team player and work well with cross-departmental teams.
- Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge and techniques.
- Commitment to regular ongoing professional development (including specific IT skills, professional associations, and current industry trends).
- High level of professionalism and ethics.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Enterprise Content Management systems, WordPress strongly preferred
- Experience supporting distributed web publishing communities
- Demonstrated experience using Google Analytics (GA4) to improve websites
- Experience optimizing content to improve search ranking
- Demonstrated experience working with multiple stakeholders
- Strong writing skills and writing for the web
- Strong content design skills and experience optimizing digital assets (videos, graphics, photos, etc.)
- Good understanding of accessibility standards and responsive design best practices
- Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3 and standard web technologies
The following would be an asset:
- Experience conducting user research
- Experience developing custom dashboards and reports in Looker Studio to communicate performance insights to stakeholders in a clear, visual, and actionable way
- Experience in higher education environment and/or public sector with multiple stakeholders
- Familiarity with different SDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, etc.)
- Experience training web content contributors on standards and tools as needed
