Title: Digital Broadcast Journalist, BNN Bloomberg

BNNBloomberg.ca is one of Canada’s most popular and fast growing business news digital properties, reaching millions of Canadians. We are looking for an experienced multi-platform journalist who thrives in a live, breaking news environment and follows the ups and downs of the markets closely. This job requires experience working independently and collaboratively, all while multi-tasking and remaining calm under pressure. Most importantly, however, this position demands refined communication skills and excellent judgment. Writing quickly and correctly is essential to the job.
Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for 3-5 news stories a day.
- Fast, accurate coverage of breaking news for BNN Bloomberg’s digital platforms.
- Pitch ideas for original reporting.
- Curate the website and multiple social media channels.
- Vet scripts, video & banners.
- Send news alerts to mobile apps and web users.
- Write content for and distribute financial newsletters.
- Work closely with the rest of the editorial department to optimize broadcast content across digital platforms.
- Monitor wires, social media, e-mail & all other outlets for news updates or story ideas.
- Participate in news editorial meetings.
- Some early morning shift work will be required.
Qualifications- Diploma in Journalism.
- Candidates must be journalists first, with proven news judgment, strong skills in writing and editing stories and headlines.
- Outstanding knowledge of business, finance, and economics.
- 5+ years of Markets and/or journalism experience.
- Highly organized, self-motivated and creative. Able to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
- A team player who gives and receives feedback well.
- Knowledge of video encoding software, recent digital trends, digital content management systems, and data analytics are an asset.
