Job summary

Qualifications

• College or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• TOGAF certification required.
• 8+ years leading cross-functional agile product teams and architecture direction.
• 5+ years architecting and managing Azure Red Hat OpenShift clusters.
• 7+ years documenting architectures in enterprise IT environments of GOA scale.
• 7+ years designing platform solutions in large enterprise settings.
• 8+ years leadership, planning, and presenting ideas.

Responsibilities

• Develop current-state and target-state architecture roadmaps.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to development and support teams.
• Define architecture principles, standards, and reusable components.
• Support Architecture Review Board governance and vendor oversight.
• Contribute to data governance and AI-enabled services architecture.
• 100% Onsite at the GOA office in Edmonton
• Standard hours: 08:15 – 16:30 MT, Monday through Friday.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Digital Architect to lead solution and enterprise architecture for the Government of Alberta (GOA) – Applications, Data & AI Portfolio. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for modernizing GOA applications, establishing common standards, and providing technical oversight across a complex portfolio.

You will lead architecture governance, guide technical implementation, and support data, analytics, and AI initiatives within a secure GOA environment.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Education: College or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Certification: Must hold a current TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) certification.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years leading cross-functional agile product teams, providing architectural direction, and mentoring developers and technical leads.
• Technical: Minimum 5 years architecting, managing, and maintaining Azure Red Hat OpenShift clusters.
• Architecture: Minimum 8 years identifying and assessing requirements across business, application, technology, data/information, security, and privacy domains.
• Enterprise IT (Architecture): Minimum 7 years documenting application architectures in an enterprise IT environment equivalent in size and complexity to the Government of Alberta.
• Enterprise IT (Platform Solutions): Minimum 7 years planning, designing, implementing, and supporting platform solutions in an enterprise IT environment equivalent in size and complexity to the Government of Alberta.
• Leadership: Minimum 8 years providing leadership, planning, estimating, and presentations of ideas and solutions.
