A leading company in tourism marketing is seeking a Digital Ad Specialist for a 15-month contract. The role involves developing and implementing digital advertising strategies to promote Kamloops as a top travel destination. Candidates should have experience in digital marketing, strong communication skills, and be data-driven. The Tourism Kamloops team promotes Kamloops as an attractive, affordable, and accessible getaway for outdoor enthusiasts, families, athletes and weekend warriors. We lead innovative technological marketing strategies with our partners and interest holders to promote Kamloops as a valued tourism destination.
Reporting to the Director, Brand + Marketing, this role supports the day-to-day digital advertising functions within the Marketing department. You will be responsible for developing, executing, and measuring digital advertising strategies and tactics that promote Kamloops as a desirable travel destination across owned, earned, and paid media channels. The Digital Ads Specialist will also collaborate closely with the Director, Brand + Marketing to define and implement Tourism Kamloops’ overall digital advertising plan.
You will ensure all consumer-facing communications maintain brand integrity.
In addition to being highly organized and collaborative, you take initiative and can confidently support and drive digital advertising initiatives that align with the organization’s five-year strategic plan.
• Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of digital advertising campaigns across platforms such as Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads, and YouTube Ads to promote Kamloops as a travel destination.
• Maximize return on investment (ROI) across all paid marketing channels through continuous testing, audience targeting, and creative optimization.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on digital ad performance to generate insights, support data-driven decision-making, and improve future campaign effectiveness.
• Manage and monitor the annual digital advertising budget, leveraging co-op or partner opportunities where available. Flag any potential adjustments or opportunities to the Director, Brand + Marketing for review.
• Field and evaluate digital advertising inquiries, ensuring alignment with Tourism Kamloops’ strategy and brand.
• Collaborate effectively with all departments, offering digital strategy expertise, particularly in support of events that drive overnight visitation to Kamloops.
• Support event marketing initiatives by developing and executing digital components in coordination with internal teams and external partners.
• Assist in the planning and execution of photo and video shoots, contributing to strategy, creative briefs, outreach, and logistics. Work closely with the team to help ensure smooth execution and timely delivery of assets.
• Support content development efforts for digital campaigns, including written and visual content for paid ads, email, blogs, and social media.
• Work with a range of digital platforms and tools, including Google Ads Manager, Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads, YouTube Ads, Canva, and others, to develop and execute campaign materials.
• Support website maintenance by contributing to content updates that are timely, engaging, and aligned with campaign goals.
• Support vendor coordination by liaising with external creative, media, and production partners to facilitate the timely delivery of assets and campaign requirements, while helping to foster collaborative working relationships that align with overall marketing objectives.
• Collaborate with the marketing and web teams on website optimization efforts to ensure content supports paid campaign objectives and improves conversion opportunities.
• Stay current on emerging trends, tools, and best practices in digital advertising. Recommend and implement new approaches to improve campaign performance and digital reach.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director, Brand + Marketing or the CEO.
Experience & Skills
• 3+ years’ experience in marketing, with a focus on digital advertising.
• A bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing or tourism.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing digital marketing programs and campaigns including content marketing, social media, CRM and CMS, paid advertising, website design and analytics.
• Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving abilities.
• Strong team player with experience collaborating on large cross functional projects
• Proficient data-driven decision making. Excels in identifying actionable insights and strategic growth opportunities.
• Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders and partners to achieve a common goal.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environment with the ability to set, prioritize, manage, and delegate tasks.
• Exceptional organization and time management skills – including the ability to multitask, manage deadlines and work efficiently within a small team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally, work with flexibility, efficiency, and diplomacy both individually and as part of a complex team.
• Experience with platforms such as ProcessWire, WordPress, Canva, Adobe Suite, ChatGPT-4, Slack, Asana, and CrowdRiff (Creators and UGC) is considered an asset.
