Job summary

Volker Stevin Contracting is seeking a Digger Derrick Operator to safely and efficiently operate Derrick Digger equipment on construction sites in Calgary. You will plan tasks, assess equipment suitability, ensure proper setup and load handling, and support utility construction and maintenance projects with precise equipment use.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years of Derrick Digger operation experience within a construction setting, plus knowledge of load charts,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• Minimum of 2+ years of Derrick Digger operation experience.
• Minimum of 3+ years of construction industry experience.
• Knowledge of shallow utilities and construction processes is an asset.
• Knowledge of hoisting and rigging procedures is an asset.
• Understanding of DOT regulations and load securement.
• Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with air; Class 1 with air and clean abstract preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Derrick Digger safely on construction sites.
• Understand shallow utilities and construction processes.
• Perform pre-trip and hazard assessment checks on equipment and job site.
• Use load charts for safe operations.
• Complete assigned work on schedule as directed by the Site Supervisor.
• Assist crews with other physical tasks as required.
• Promote Volker Stevin Contracting’s safety culture on site.
