A leading health service in Alberta is seeking a Public Health Dietitian to promote the nutritional health of the community. The role involves providing expertise, leading education programs, and collaborating with health teams. Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition and be eligible for registration as a dietitian.
Your Opportunity:
The Public Health Dietitian provides nutrition expertise to promote the nutritional health of the population in their zone. Using the population health promotion strategies, the Public Health Dietitian works in collaboration with zone public health teams, local community stakeholders, and provincial PPH Nutrition Services working groups to identify issues, contribute to the development of programs/products or services, lead local implementation and participates in/inform evaluation for sustainability and continuous quality improvement. The public health dietitian uses capacity building (education and training support) to develop and lead education and training of zone public health staff in key areas of focus (e.g. prenatal, infant, young children nutrition) as well as other key internal and external stakeholders. The Public Health Dietitian delivers consistent, accurate, evidence-based nutrition information across the lifespan or for specific subsets of the population within their communities.
Description:
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of 1-year experience in public health is preferred.
