Job Type: Contract 14 hours/week

Summary of Position

Reporting to the Director of Care and/or designate, the Dietitian will manage residents' nutritional needs through quality meal service and ensure compliance with clinical standards outlined in the Community Care Licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Be an engaged team player, developing and maintaining professional relationships that support organizational culture.
  • Adhere to the Ministry of Health’s Adult Care Regulations and legislation.
  • Develop a nutrition care plan for each resident within two weeks of admission.
  • Review and update nutrition care plans regularly and as needed.
  • Monitor and ensure proper implementation of nutrition care plans.
  • Participate in care conferences, food committees, and other meetings.
  • Ensure meals meet Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating and consider residents' preferences, cultural, and religious customs.
  • Establish policies and procedures for resident meal service and nutritional care.
  • Conduct nutrition and food service audits as scheduled.
  • Maintain accurate records for menus, audits, and education.
  • Participate in staff education on nutrition, mealtime management, and food safety.
  • Liaise with the interdisciplinary team and community services.
  • Collaborate with the food services coordinator as required.
  • Conduct nutrient analysis of menu items as needed.

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
  • Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition and completion of an accredited internship.
  • Recent clinical experience in geriatric nutrition is an asset.
  • Successful applicants must pass a vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check per provincial guidelines.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with team members, residents, and families.
  • Strong clinical documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of geriatric clinical nutrition principles.
  • Problem-solving skills with a broad perspective for developing nutrition care plans.
  • Travel may be required.
