- Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
- Manage portion control of food items.
- Follow safety precautions in your area; report unsafe incidents or equipment issues to management.
- Operate equipment safely, including documenting temperatures of pot wash, dish machines, refrigerators, and freezers.
- Deliver catering to various hospital locations and handle dish collection for cleaning.
- Maintain proper food serving temperatures and observe time limits for meal service.
- Assist cooks with food preparation, including salads, vegetables, and fruits, and follow instructions for simple foods.
- Clear plates and trays, operate dishwashers, and clean kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Support prep work according to daily prep lists.
- Properly store and label dietary supplies and leftovers.
- Check and document food temperatures and tastes, ensuring compliance with HACCP guidelines; take corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
- Set up catering events, including linens, equipment, and special requests.
- Adhere to policies on quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
- Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes.
- Participate in meetings and ongoing training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
- Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
- Food Handler Certification approved by the Public Health Department.
- Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for long periods.
- Current Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS) within the last 6 months.
