Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Manage portion control of food items.
  • Follow safety precautions in your area; report unsafe incidents or equipment issues to management.
  • Operate equipment safely, including documenting temperatures of pot wash, dish machines, refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Deliver catering to various hospital locations and handle dish collection for cleaning.
  • Maintain proper food serving temperatures and observe time limits for meal service.
  • Assist cooks with food preparation, including salads, vegetables, and fruits, and follow instructions for simple foods.
  • Clear plates and trays, operate dishwashers, and clean kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Support prep work according to daily prep lists.
  • Properly store and label dietary supplies and leftovers.
  • Check and document food temperatures and tastes, ensuring compliance with HACCP guidelines; take corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  • Set up catering events, including linens, equipment, and special requests.
  • Adhere to policies on quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
  • Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes.
  • Participate in meetings and ongoing training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Food Handler Certification approved by the Public Health Department.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for long periods.
  • Current Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS) within the last 6 months.
