Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Control portions of food items.
  • Follow safety precautions, report unsafe incidents, and ensure equipment safety.
  • Operate equipment safely, document temperatures, and maintain proper storage of food and supplies.
  • Deliver catering, assist with food prep, and maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Participate in food safety protocols, including HACCP procedures.
  • Set up for catering events and handle customer-specific requests.
  • Adhere to departmental policies on quality, safety, and infection control.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by the Public Health Department.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for long periods.
  • Current (within 6 months) VPS screening.
