Qualifications

  • Complete or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Hold a valid Food Handler Certification approved by the Public Health Department.
  • Be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Capable of moderate to heavy lifting.
  • Able to stand for extended periods.
  • Possess a recent Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening.

Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Control portion sizes of food items.
  • Follow safety precautions in your area, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Operate equipment safely, document temperatures of pots, dishwashers, refrigerators, and freezers, and follow up as needed.
  • Deliver catering to hospital locations and handle dish collection for ware washing.
  • Maintain proper serving temperatures and observe time limits for meal service.
  • Assist cooks with preparing salads, vegetables, fruits, breakfast items, desserts, and garnishes.
  • Clear plates and trays, operate dishwashers, and clean utensils and cookware as per procedures.
  • Help with food storage, labeling, and managing leftovers.
  • Check and document food temperatures and tastes, follow HACCP guidelines, and take corrective actions for food quality issues.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, utensils, and work areas.
  • Set up for catering events, including linens, equipment, and special requests.
Requirements
  • Complete or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Hold a valid Food Handler Certification approved by the Public Health Department.
  • Be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Capable of moderate to heavy lifting.

  • Possess a recent (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS).
