- Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
- Control portion sizes of food items.
- Follow safety precautions in your area, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and adhere to safety procedures.
- Operate equipment safely, document temperatures of pots, dishwashers, refrigerators, and freezers, and follow up as needed.
- Deliver catering to hospital locations and handle dish collection for ware washing.
- Maintain proper serving temperatures and observe time limits for meal service.
- Assist cooks with preparing salads, vegetables, fruits, breakfast items, desserts, and garnishes.
- Clear plates and trays, operate dishwashers, and clean utensils and cookware as per procedures.
- Help with food storage, labeling, and managing leftovers.
- Check and document food temperatures and tastes, follow HACCP guidelines, and take corrective actions for food quality issues.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, utensils, and work areas.
- Set up for catering events, including linens, equipment, and special requests.
Requirements
- Complete or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
- Hold a valid Food Handler Certification approved by the Public Health Department.
- Be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Capable of moderate to heavy lifting.
- Able to stand for extended periods.
- Possess a recent (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS).
- Experience in kitchen or food service setting preferred.
