Responsibilities :

  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Manage portion control of food items.
  • Follow safety precautions, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Operate equipment safely, document temperatures of appliances, and monitor food safety.
  • Deliver catering throughout the facility, including dish pickup for ware washing.
  • Maintain proper food serving temperatures and observe meal service time limits.
  • Assist cooks with food preparation, including salads, vegetables, and simple desserts.
  • Clear plates and trays, operate dishwashers, and clean utensils.
  • Assist with food storage, labeling, and monitoring expiry dates.
  • Check and document food temperatures and quality, initiate corrective actions as needed, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  • Set up for catering events, including linens, equipment, and special requests.
  • Adhere to departmental policies on quality, safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
  • Assemble nourishment carts, stock kitchenettes, participate in meetings and training, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for long periods.
  • Current (within 6 months) VPS screening.
  • Experience in a kitchen or food service setting.
