Job summary

WestCana is seeking a part-time and casual Dietary Aide to support residents in long-term care at the West Vancouver location. The role includes dining room service, adherence to HACCP procedures, and maintaining sanitary work areas. Ability to work weekends and flexible hours is required; wage is competitive for the region.

Ideal candidates will have WHMIS, English communication skills, and a clear background check. Schedules vary for casual positions and alignment with care teams is expected.

Qualifications

• WHMIS certification required.
• Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
• Legally allowed to work in Canada.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to organize work and meet time constraints.
• Satisfactory proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.
• Criminal Record Check upon hire and every 5 years thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Sets tables, serves food and beverages per established policies, procedures, and HACCP plan.
• Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
• Washes, cleans and stores dishes, cutlery, fixtures and equipment used for food preparation and service.
• Operates food service equipment, prepares food items, and assembles ready foods for meal trays to deliver and serve foods in resident units and dining rooms.
• Reports all hazards, incidents, near misses and workplace injuries to the manager immediately and in writing.
• Adheres to Infection Control Practices.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Part-time: Saturday - Sunday, 11.00am - 7.00pm, 15 hours/week
• Casual: Schedule varies
• Wage: $25.82
• Location of Work: 725 Inglewood Ave, West Vancouver, V7T 1X5

Dietary Aide Must Haves:

• Maintains WHMIS certification.
• Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent.
• Legally allowed to work in Canada.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints.
• Satisfactory proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.
• Passes and complies with Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check upon hire and every 5 years thereafter.

Dietary Aide Nice to Haves:

• Institutional cleaning experience.
• Previous experience in Long-term Care Facility and/or food service establishment.

Dietary Aide Responsibilities:
