Responsibilities
  1. Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  2. Manage portion control of food items.
  3. Ensure safety precautions in your area, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and follow safety procedures.
  4. Operate equipment safely, including documenting temperatures of pot wash, dish machines, refrigerators, and freezers.
  5. Deliver catering to hospital locations and handle dishware.
  6. Maintain proper food serving temperatures and observe time limits.
  7. Assist cooks with preparing salads, vegetables, fruits, breakfast items, desserts, and garnishes.
  8. Clear plates, load dishwashers, and clean utensils and cookware.
  9. Support prep work as per the daily prep list.
  10. Properly store and label dietary supplies, including leftovers.
  11. Monitor and document food temperatures and quality, initiate corrective actions, and ensure compliance with HACCP guidelines.
  12. Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas.
  13. Set up for catering events, including linens, equipment, and special requests.
  14. Follow departmental policies on quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environment.
  15. Assemble nourishment carts and stock kitchenettes.
  16. Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for extended periods.
  • Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening.
  • Experience in a kitchen or food service setting.
