Job summary

A senior living community in North Bay is seeking a Dietary Aide Certified to enhance the lives of residents. The role involves following proper food handling techniques, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting in meal preparation according to residents' preferences. Qualifications

  • Completion of a Food Service Worker program from a recognized college or private career college in Ontario, and receipt of the certificate.
  • Current Food Handler’s Certificate.
  • Familiarity with proper food service and handling procedures.
  • Ability to operate institutional cooking equipment, such as dishwashers, conveyor toasters, and meat-slicers.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario) or Criminal Records Check (British Columbia), as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Following proper food handling techniques, including managing dates, labels, and proper food storage.
  • Keeping work areas clean and uncluttered, and completing scheduled cleaning duties.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of floors in food preparation, dishroom, and storage areas.
  • Assisting in meal preparation and serving, following residents' diets and food preferences, and using proper portion sizes.
  • Taking orders for the first and second menu choices from residents by name and preference, considering likes and dislikes.
  • Setting and clearing tables in dining rooms, and washing/sanitizing tables, chairs, and serveries.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
