Job summary

Sienna Senior Living in Etobicoke (Deerwood Creek Community) is hiring a Dietary Aide to support residents in long-term care. You will assist with meals, follow dietary plans, and help maintain a clean dining environment, delivering compassionate care.

This role emphasizes building relationships with residents, teamwork with staff, and adherence to food safety standards. A Safe Food Handler certificate is preferred, and all applicants must pass checks as part of our commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Has a valid Safe Food Handler’s Certificate or is willing to obtain.
• Committed to providing compassionate support that helps seniors live their lives to the fullest.
• Detail-oriented with strong customer service abilities to effectively communicate with residents and staff.
• Experience in food service from institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality settings.
• Food Service Worker Certificate is advantageous but not required.
• All applicants must pass a Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario) and a Criminal Records Check (British Columbia).

You will be a welcomed member of the Retirement team, working in a fast-paced environment where you will make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. As a Dietary Aide you will do meaningful work everyday ensuring a safe and clean environment for residents’. As an individual and part of a wider team, you will be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day.

How You’ll Succeed

• 1. Food Preparation & Food Handling


• Assist with the preparation of meals, and serving meals


• Follow residents' diets and food preferences


• Take the menu orders from the residents


• Set and clear tables in the dining rooms and ensure they are sanitized


• Ensure you are following proper food handling techniques

Who You Are

• Have a valid Safe Food Handler’s Certificate or willing to obtain


• You are committed to providing compassionate support that provides seniors to live their lives to the fullest


• You are detailed-oriented coupled with strong customer service skills enabling you to effectively communicate with residents and staff


• You may bring experience in food service from institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality


• While possessing a Food Service Worker Certificate would be excellent, it’s not a requirement


• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicable to Ontario applicants.


• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicants.
