Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Manage portion control of food items.
  • Follow safety precautions, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Operate equipment safely, document temperatures, and monitor food safety standards.
  • Deliver catering throughout the hospital, including handling dirty dishes.
  • Maintain proper food temperatures and observe serving time limits.
  • Assist cooks with food prep, including salads, vegetables, and simple desserts.
  • Clear plates, operate dishwashers, and clean utensils and cookware.
  • Participate in proper storage, labeling, and sanitation of food and supplies.
  • Monitor food quality and safety, including HACCP procedures, and document as required.
  • Set up for catering events, including linens, equipment, and special requests.
  • Adhere to departmental policies on safety, quality assurance, and infection control.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Food Handler Certification approved by Public Health.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for extended periods.
  • Current Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (within 6 months).
