Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Manage portion control and ensure safety precautions in the assigned area.
  • Report unsafe incidents or equipment issues to management.
  • Operate equipment safely, document temperatures, and follow safety procedures.
  • Deliver catering throughout the hospital and handle dishware and cleaning duties.
  • Observe meal serving times and maintain proper food temperatures.
  • Assist Cooks with food preparation, including salads, vegetables, and simple desserts.
  • Clear plates, operate dishwashers, and clean utensils as per procedures.
  • Participate in proper storage, labeling, and documentation of food and supplies.
  • Set up for catering events and fulfill customer requests.
  • Adhere to departmental policies on safety, quality assurance, and infection control.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for long periods.
  • Current VPS within the last 6 months.
  • Experience in a kitchen or food service setting.
