Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Manage portion control of food items.
  • Ensure safety precautions in your area, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and follow safety procedures.
  • Operate equipment safely, document temperatures, and follow up as needed.
  • Deliver catering to hospital locations, including dish pickup for ware washing.
  • Maintain proper serving temperatures and observe meal service time limits.
  • Assist Cooks with food prep, including salads, vegetables, and basic desserts.
  • Clear plates, operate dishwashers, and clean utensils as per procedures.
  • Support in food storage, labeling, and inventory management.
  • Check and document food temperatures and quality, follow HACCP guidelines, and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  • Set up for catering events, including linens, utensils, and special requests.
  • Adhere to departmental policies on quality, safety, and infection control.
  • Assemble nourishment carts and stock kitchenettes.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for long periods.
  • Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Experience in kitchen or food service settings.
