Responsibilities
  1. Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  2. Manage portion control of food items.
  3. Follow safety precautions, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  4. Operate equipment safely, document temperatures of appliances, and follow up as necessary.
  5. Deliver catering to hospital locations and handle dishware appropriately.
  6. Maintain proper food temperatures and observe serving time limits.
  7. Assist Cooks with food prep and cleaning tasks, including preparing salads, vegetables, fruits, and simple desserts.
  8. Clear plates, operate dishwashers, and clean utensils and cookware.
  9. Participate in proper storage, labeling, and documentation of food and supplies, including HACCP procedures.
  10. Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  11. Set up for catering events, including linens, tableware, and special requests.
  12. Adhere to departmental policies on quality assurance, safety, and infection control.
  13. Assemble nourishment carts and stock kitchenettes.
  14. Participate in meetings and training as required.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  1. Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
  2. Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
  3. Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  4. Ability to do moderate to heavy lifting and stand for long periods.
  5. Current Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (within 6 months).
  6. Experience in kitchen or food service setting.
