Responsibilities :

  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Manage portion control of food items.
  • Ensure safety precautions in your area, report unsafe incidents, and follow safety procedures.
  • Operate equipment safely, monitor temperatures, and document as necessary.
  • Deliver catering throughout the hospital, including handling dirty dishes.
  • Maintain proper food temperatures and serve within time limits.
  • Assist Cooks with food prep and cleaning tasks.
  • Participate in proper storage and labeling of food and supplies.
  • Check and document food temperatures and quality, initiate corrective actions if needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  • Set up for catering events per client requests.
  • Adhere to departmental policies on quality, safety, and infection control.
  • Assist with nourishment carts and stock kitchenettes.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
  • Availability for day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Ability to lift moderately to heavily and stand for long periods.
