LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLYResponsibilities
- Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
- Control portion sizes of food items.
- Follow safety procedures, report unsafe conditions or equipment issues to management.
- Operate equipment safely, including documenting temperatures of pot wash stations, refrigerators, and freezers, and follow-up as needed.
- Deliver catering to various hospital locations and handle dishware for cleaning.
- Maintain proper food temperatures and observe serving time limits.
- Assist cooks with preparing salads, vegetables, fruits, and basic breakfast items or desserts.
- Clear plates and trays, operate dishwashers, and clean cookware and utensils.
- Support prep cooks with daily prep tasks.
- Properly store, label, and manage dietary supplies and leftovers.
- Check and document food temperatures and quality, initiate corrective actions, and maintain HACCP standards.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, utensils, and work areas.
- Set up for catering events, including linens, tableware, and special requests.
- Adhere to departmental policies on quality, safety, infection control, and environment.
- Assemble nourishment carts and stock kitchenettes.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions as assigned.
- Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor.
Requirements
- Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
- Food Handler Certification approved by Public Health Department.
- Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Experience in a kitchen or food service environment.
