Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Control portions of food items.
  • Ensure safety in the assigned area, report unsafe incidents or concerns, and follow safety procedures.
  • Operate equipment safely, monitor temperatures, and document as required.
  • Deliver catering to hospital locations, including dish pickup for ware washing.
  • Maintain proper serving temperatures and observe time limits for meal service.
  • Assist cooks with food preparation, including salads, vegetables, and fruits, following instructions.
  • Clear plates and trays, load dishwasher, and clean utensils and cookware.
  • Assist with prep work as per daily Prep List.
  • Store and label dietary supplies and leftovers properly.
  • Check and document food temperatures and quality, initiate corrective actions, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  • Set up for catering events, including linens, equipment, and special requests.

**Qualifications:**

  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health Department.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting and stand for long periods.
  • Current (within 6 months) VPS screening.
  • Experience in a kitchen or food service setting.
