Responsibilities include:

  • Serving food according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Portion control of food items.
  • Ensuring safety precautions, reporting unsafe incidents, and following safety procedures.
  • Operating equipment safely and documenting temperatures and follow-up actions.
  • Delivering catering, including pick-up of dirty dishes.
  • Maintaining proper food temperatures and observing serving time limits.
  • Assisting cooks with food prep and cleaning tasks.
  • Proper storage and labeling of supplies and leftovers.
  • Monitoring food quality and temperatures, initiating corrective actions, and documenting as per HACCP guidelines.
  • Cleaning and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  • Setting up for catering events and fulfilling customer requests.

Requirements include:

  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
  • Availability for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for long periods.
  • Current VPS within last 6 months.
  • Experience in a kitchen or food service setting.
