Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Manage portion control of food items.
  • Follow safety precautions, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Operate equipment safely, document temperatures, and follow procedures.
  • Deliver catering throughout the hospital and handle dishware.
  • Maintain proper food temperatures and assist cooks with food prep.
  • Clear plates, operate dishwashers, and clean utensils and equipment.
  • Assist with food storage, labeling, and temperature checks, including HACCP guidelines.
  • Ensure proper sanitation and setup for catering events.
  • Follow departmental policies on quality, safety, and infection control.
  • Participate in meetings and training, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program per Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift moderately to heavily and stand for long periods.
  • Current VPS (within 6 months).
  • Experience in kitchen or food service setting.
