- Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
- Manage portion control of food items.
- Follow safety precautions, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and adhere to safety procedures.
- Operate equipment safely, document temperatures of pot wash, dish machines, refrigerators, and freezers, and take follow-up actions as needed.
- Deliver catering to hospital locations and handle dish collection for ware washing.
- Maintain proper serving temperatures and observe time limits for meal service.
- Assist cooks with food prep, including salads, vegetables, fruits, breakfast items, desserts, and garnishes.
- Clear plates and trays, operate dishwashers, and clean cookware and utensils.
- Support prep work with daily tasks as per the Prep List.
- Properly store, label, and manage leftovers and dietary supplies.
- Check and document food temperatures and quality, initiate corrective actions, and ensure documentation and food safety standards are met.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
- Set up for catering events, including linens, tableware, equipment, and special requests.
- Adhere to departmental policies on quality, safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
- Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
- Food Handler Certification approved by Public Health Department.
- Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Screening.
