Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Control portion sizes of food items.
  • Follow safety precautions in the assigned area, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Operate and document temperature checks of equipment like dishwashers, refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Deliver catering to hospital locations, including handling dirty dishes for washing.
  • Maintain proper food serving temperatures and observe time limits for meals.
  • Assist cooks with preparing salads, vegetables, fruits, and simple breakfast items or desserts.
  • Clear plates and trays, operate dishwashers, and clean utensils.
  • Assist with food prep according to detailed lists and instructions.
  • Properly store and label dietary supplies and leftovers.
  • Monitor and document food temperatures and quality, initiate corrective actions as needed, and ensure proper documentation and stock rotation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  • Set up for catering events, including linens, equipment, and customer requests.
Requirements
  • Complete or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Hold a valid Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
  • Be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Capable of moderate to heavy lifting and standing for long periods.
  • Have a current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Experience in kitchen or food service preferred.
