Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Dietary Aide for Long Term Care in Barrie, Ontario. You will support residents with meals, follow diets, and help maintain a clean, safe dining environment, contributing to a home where residents are known by their life stories.

This is a role focused on compassionate care and everyday wellbeing. You have a Safe Food Handler certificate or willingness to obtain, plus experience in food service and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • Valid Safe Food Handler’s Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience in food service from institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality.
  • Commitment to compassionate support for seniors.
  • Detail-oriented with strong customer service skills.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit.
  • Willingness to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of meals and serving meals.
  • Follow residents' diets and food preferences.
  • Take the menu orders from residents.
  • Set and clear tables in dining rooms and ensure sanitation.
  • Follow proper food handling techniques.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will be a welcomed member of the Long Term Care team, working in a fast-paced environment where you will make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. As a Dietary Aide you will do meaningful work everyday ensuring a safe and clean environment for residents’. As an individual and part of a wider team, you will be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day.

How You’ll Succeed
1. Food Preparation & Food Handling
  • Assist with the preparation of meals, and serving meals
  • Follow residents' diets and food preferences
  • Take the menu orders from the residents
  • Set and clear tables in the dining rooms and ensure they are sanitized
  • Ensure you are following proper food handling techniques
Who You Are
  • Have a valid Safe Food Handler’s Certificate or willing to obtain
  • You are committed to providing compassionate support that provides seniors to live their lives to the fullest
  • You are detailed-oriented coupled with strong customer service skills enabling you to effectively communicate with residents and staff
  • You may bring experience in food service from institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality
  • While possessing a Food Service Worker Certificate would be excellent, it’s not a requirement
  • You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
  • You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province
