- Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
- Control portion sizes of food items.
- Follow safety precautions, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and adhere to safety procedures.
- Operate equipment safely, document temperatures, and follow up as needed.
- Deliver catering to hospital locations, including handling dirty dishes.
- Maintain proper food temperatures during service.
- Assist Cooks with food preparation, including salads, vegetables, and fruits, and follow instructions for simple food items.
- Clear plates and trays, operate dishwashers, and clean utensils and cookware.
- Assist with food prep according to the daily prep list.
- Properly store and label dietary supplies and leftovers.
- Check and document food temperatures and quality, follow HACCP guidelines, and take corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure equipment and work areas are cleaned and sanitized.
- Set up for catering events, including linens, equipment, and special requests.
- Adhere to departmental policies on quality, safety, and infection control.
- Assemble nourishment carts and stock kitchenettes.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
- Food Handler Certification approved by Public Health.
- Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting and stand for long periods.
- Current (within 6 months) VPS screening.
- Experience in a kitchen or food service setting preferred.
