Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Manage portion control of food items.
  • Follow safety precautions, report unsafe incidents, and ensure safe operation of equipment.
  • Deliver catering throughout the hospital, including handling dishes and maintaining proper food temperatures.
  • Assist cooks with food preparation and cleaning duties.
  • Participate in proper storage, labeling, and documentation of food and supplies, adhering to HACCP guidelines.
  • Ensure sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  • Set up catering events and fulfill specific customer requests.
  • Adhere to departmental policies on quality, safety, and infection control.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for long periods.
  • Current Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (within 6 months).
  • Experience in a kitchen or food service setting.
