About the job: Dietary Aide (Barrie Area)
As a valued member of our culinary team, you will assist with plating and serving meals. You will be responsible for cleaning serving areas and equipment, all while following established policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow established policies, procedures, work systems, and cleaning protocols to meet regulatory requirements.
- Ensure food is prepared and served in accordance with health and food safety guidelines.
- Operate all dietary equipment competently.
- Participate in meal presentation.
- Work cooperatively with the interdisciplinary team.
- Assist in planning and organizing food preparation to ensure timely service of meals and snacks at appropriate temperatures, textures, and quantities.
- Clean, care for, and store equipment properly after each use.
- Report any repair needs or deficiencies in the environment.
- Deliver and serve meals according to residents' assessed needs.
- Assist with dining room clean-up.
- Help prepare the environment and food for special events.
- Participate in facility and department committees as required.
- Use CQI/Risk Management processes to evaluate and ensure follow-up.
- Engage in ongoing educational opportunities.
- Promote wellness as a core concept of living.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of departmental policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Collaborate with volunteers and student placements to enhance departmental services.
- Use supplies and equipment effectively and efficiently.
- Provide input on menu planning based on residents' preferences.
- Adopt safe work practices to protect personal and others' health; report unsafe conditions immediately; attend relevant occupational health and safety training.
- Follow all roles and responsibilities as per the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Handle chemicals safely in accordance with WHMIS guidelines.
What you bring:
- Successful completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
- Previous dietary experience in LTC (Long Term Care) homes preferred (0-1 year).
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to read and write English and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work safely following established safety practices and procedures.
- Capacity for moderate to heavy lifting.
