Responsibilities
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
  • Manage portion control and ensure safety precautions in the assigned area.
  • Report unsafe incidents or equipment issues to management.
  • Operate equipment safely and document temperature controls.
  • Deliver catering within the hospital and handle dishware for ware washing.
  • Maintain proper food serving temperatures and assist cooks with food preparation.
  • Clear plates, load dishwashers, and clean kitchen utensils.
  • Assist with food storage, labeling, and documentation according to HACCP guidelines.
  • Participate in setup for catering events and other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health Department.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift moderately to heavily and stand for long periods.
  • Current (within 6 months) VPS clearance.
  • Experience in kitchen or food service setting preferred.
