Job summary

AgeCare Oakville is seeking a part-time Dietary Assistant to support meal service for residents and guests at AgeCare Glen Oaks. You will help with setting tables, serving meals, and ensuring tray delivery runs smoothly in a warm, respectful environment.

Requirements include a Food Handler's Certificate, strong customer service skills, physical stamina, and the ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check. Prior senior-care food service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Food Handler's Certificate required.
• Experience in food service with seniors preferred.
• Must be enrolled in Food Service Worker Training Program.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Physically able to lift heavy items and stand for long periods.
• Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Record Check current or willing to obtain.

What You Will Do

• Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• Assist in the set up and preparation for service of various items such as beverages, salads, desserts, etc.
• Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required.
• Assist with cleaning of dishware, and cutlery after each seating as required.
• Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining area as required.
• Assist with catering, and actively participate in special occasions and theme events.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new dietary employees.
• Follow and comply with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures.
• Comply with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures.

What You Bring

• Food Handler's Certificate is required.
• Preference will be given to individuals with previous experience in the food service industry and working with seniors.
• Must have or be enrolled in Food Service Worker Training Program.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for the majority of shift.
• Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
• Must be able to provide a current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Record Check, or be willing to obtain one.
