The Dietary Aide reports to the Culinary Services Manager and is expected to demonstrate commitment to resident safety by preparing and/or serving meals as directed by the cook for individual residents, providing high-quality care in accordance with the organization's vision and mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver meals in a pleasant, courteous manner.
  • Assist the cook in preparing, plating, and serving food as requested.
  • Respect residents' preferences and adhere to their dietary requirements.
  • Ensure meals are an enjoyable experience.
  • Maintain serveries, tables, food storage areas, fridges, and freezers.
  • Clean and reset tables, remove dirty dishes.
  • Ensure dishwasher is loaded, operated, and emptied.
  • Collaborate with Food Services and other departments.
  • Support FIFO processes.
  • Vacuum and damp mop floors as needed.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Participate in education as required.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

The qualifications needed to join our team include:

  • Current certificate in food handling training from a local health authority or recent completion of an equivalent program.
  • Successful completion of a Food Service Worker, Culinary Program, or CSNM membership is an asset.
  • Previous experience in healthcare or hospitality is an asset.
  • Understanding and empathy for seniors' needs.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, Sanitation Code.
  • Knowledge of food handling and storage.
  • Ability to serve food attractively and accurately.
  • Physical and mental ability to perform duties.
  • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide positive social interactions.
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening within the last 6 months, recent TB test or Chest X-ray within the last year, and two supervisory references.

This is a part-time position (0.2 FTE) with four shifts from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, including two weekdays and two weekends on an alternating schedule.
