SCOPE OF POSITION: The Diet Aide is responsible for the assembly, delivery, and service of food and supplies to assigned areas. Responsible for maintaining all assigned areas and equipment in sanitary condition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum completion of Grade Ten (10) required
  2. Experience in maintaining a clean and sanitary food service environment
  3. Knowledge and ability to operate and clean institutional equipment
  4. Working knowledge of WHMIS legislation
  5. Ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis
  6. Working knowledge of therapeutic dietary requirements of geriatric residents preferred

General Duties:

  1. Responsible for all components of meal service to assigned areas, as outlined in the job routine
  2. Prepare and assemble special trays, beverages, and food according to job routine
  3. Count and replenish stock items as required
  4. Maintain a clean work area
  5. Report all necessary repairs and equipment malfunctions
  6. Ensure all dietary requirements are adhered to
  7. Ensure all food handling and HACCP procedures are followed
  8. Clean all equipment, dishes, pots & pans, and areas assigned, according to guidelines
  9. Follow all WHMIS guidelines when using and dispensing chemicals
  10. Receive, store, and rotate food and supplies as required
  11. Conduct inventory of supplies and products as required

Performs other related duties as required.

Salary Range: In accordance with current collective agreement between Ocean View Continuing Care Centre and C.U.P.E. Local 1245.

Rotation: Weekends / Days / Evenings / Holidays; May be changed as necessary to meet the operational requirements of the facility.
